DEVIN, WHY DO YOU WANT TO RUNAWAY? -- "Well, I love my family, but they're just a pain in the bottom. My parents don't even act like parents, they act like they're the ones who're children, and I am constantly watching over them like the mother. It's tiring, and then what makes it harder is that I have to take care of my younger siblings on top of my parents. You can easily see why I would want out. I'm only eighteen, I shouldn't have to be put in the predicament where I'm the parent, especially when I don't wanna be."

DIGGING DEEPER — Ever since she was a young girl, Devin showed significant signs of maturity. She hardly cried at her young toddler years and as she got older, her maturity level only heightened. She took care of her younger siblings and even rode her bike to the nearest grocery store to grocery shop for her family. Her mother and father both were motorcycle riders, and they were that type of couple who simply weren’t fit for having children. All they ever wanted to do was go ride their Harley’s around with their biker friends and get drunk at garage parties. They came home late practically every night and it both amazed and confused Devin how they were even able to pay bills in the house. Everything else was up to Devin. She cooked every night for both her siblings and her parents and wasn’t even rewarded for her hard work. She went to school every day, exhausted, but she still managed to make straight A’s. Devin was focused and intent on leaving her home as quickly as she possibly could. The only thing holding her back, were her siblings. If she wasn’t there to take care of them, then no one was. Her last resort came to her yelling at her parents for them to straighten up, and with that, off she went, not even waiting for a response. She wanted to get away from her stressful life and that’s exactly what she did.
